I am a counselling psychologist with 9 years’ experience in NHS mental health. I have worked in complex adult mental health, adult learning disability and autism within the private sector and NHS and currently specialise in perinatal mental health within the NHS.
I am passionate about helping people to find answers to their problems. I believe that we all have the answers within us and sometimes need some help to find them. I believe in working alongside people, being with them through their difficulties and helping them believe in themselves.
I work in an individual and integrative way; understanding someone’s problems, and aims for treatment, and working with them to develop a plan that fits. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person Centred and Compassion Focused Therapy – my experience shows me that there a lot of people who struggle to show themselves compassion, and that developing this can reduce the distress felt in problematic times. To me one of the most important parts of my work is really listening to each individual with compassion, understanding their experience and needs and working together with them to create solutions and improvements and I aim to provide a warm, safe and non-judgemental space for this.
I have worked with people struggling with Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Phobias, bereavement, life transition difficulties, low confidence, interpersonal difficulties and family difficulties, pre- and post-natal difficulties. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a specialist therapy for trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
My work is regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and I am a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
